Update - April 2026
On 4 April, Jemi Lighthouse closed, posting this notice on social media and a sign on the door:
Dear customers, friends and suppliersAfter many long conversations and a lot of reflection, and taking into account different circumstances as well as new opportunities, we have made a very difficult decision: our restaurant will be closing on 4 April. This was not an easy choice. Our hearts are full of emotion as we write this message, because every single person who came through our doors became part of our story. We are deeply grateful for your trust, your kindness, your support and for choosing us throughout this journey. It has bene an honour to serve each one of you and to share no only meals but also special moments, conversations, smiles and so much warmth. We will carry all of this with us with deep gratitude. We sincerely want to thank you for believing in our work and in our dream. You have been part of this journey in such a special way and we will never forget it.We pray that the blessings of the Lord Jesus reach each and every one of you, bringing peace, health, provision and new beginnings. May God reward all of the kindness and trust you have given us.With love and everlasting gratitudeJemi Lighthouse Team

Opening in a hurried fashion in 2012 (the first menu was nothing more than coffee and scones) and looking like it would struggle to survive beyond the summer, The Light House has been one of the delightful surprises of Galway's cafe world.
They grew to offer a lovely range of vegetarian cakes, and over time expanded
the menu and opened a sister-cafe in Terryland.
The cafes faces the challenges of Covid, and celebrated their 10th birthday in
2022. Then in February 2024, they took a break for "a few weeks",
eventually re-opening as Jemi Lighthouse at the end of March, just in time for
Easter. The re-opening menu is smaller and carefully chosen with
flavoursome savoury breakfast and lunch dishes.

Vegetarian, alternative in outlook - but with delicious cafes and a a
quirky approach to design, it offers a range of lunch dishes (spinach and
chick-pea curry with pumpkin on a recent visit) - as well as a great view
of the world walking by, and a menu featuring art from the gallery next
door.
