Cafe Downtown is yet another offering in a long line of late-night fast-food joints to grace this Upper Abbeygate St location, across the road from one of Galway city's salubrious night-clubs. They've called it a cafe this time around, but don't be fooled: it's only a cafe because "Greasy-spoon Downtown" doesn't have nice ring to it.
A great place to go for pizza and chips after a night out, but don't be looking for great coffee or ambience, or even consistent daytime opening hours. And the colour scheme is ahh, enthusiastic, is probably the best phrase to use.
