Update
There have been no social media announcements or goodbye signs in the window,
but sometime in early/mid June 2025, the menus and opening hours signs were
taken down, the lights turned off, and Crazy Corn just stopped opening. A few days later, the fittings started being removed. They're closed for good.
Originally
This Latin American street-food
restaurant
opened on Wed 26 July 2023 - just in time for the end of the Arts Festival.
They're located in Cross Street where Freshii used be, between 3B's Barbers and Sugar Dolls, and across the street from Galway's Dáil, just a few
steps from Quay Street. The building has had a bit of a
face-lift, adding a vibrant yellow and teal colour scheme which highlights the
features well, and is perhaps inspired by their friends up the street at
Sangria. There's an dining-in area, and a limited amount of
outdoor seating.
The menu can be described as pan Latin American, with pupusas (stuffed corn
tortillas, small or large sizes, and served with red-tomato sauce and pickled
cabbage - from El Salvador and Honduras), flautas (stuffed, rolled, crispy
corn-tortillas - from Mexico), arepas (corn tortilla sandwich, similar to pita
- from Venezuela and Columbia) and elote loco (smothered
corn-on-the-cob). And they have a number of Latin-American postres
(desserts) and bebidas (drinks). Mains are made with corn, the
symbol of life for the Aztecs and Mayans - meaning that this is Galway's first
gluten-free restaurant.
Hours
Closed Monday and Tuesday.
Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12-noon to 9pm-ish
