CEX Entertainment Exchange, Galway Shopping Centre

This world-wide games and tech buy and sell specialist opened a new store in Galway Shopping Centre in mid July 2025.  This is to replace their Williamsgate Street shop, which clsoed a few weeks later.

They're located at the north end of the complex, in Unit 62/63 (eircode H91 E863) next to the the Tesco electrical and clothing store - in a unit which has been empty for a while, and was previously Koztello Beauty.   

The new shop is bright and welcoming, with a wide front door and secure, well labelled display cabinets. 

Product range is all you'd expect:   second hand games and gaming equipment - as well an interesting range of electronics / gadget, including phones, cameras, speakers and more.

Initial opening hours

Sunday and Monday midday - 6pm

Tuesday and Wednesday  and Saturday 9:30am - 6pm 

Thursday  9:30am - 8pm

Friday  9am - 8pm

ECig, Galway Shopping Centre

The newest branch of eCig Shop smoking-supplies shops opened in Galway Shopping Centre in mid October 2024.

They're located in the northern side of the shopping-centre, in the unit that was previously Forever Me Cosmetics - in between the recently-refurbished Eir phonestore, and DX shoes.

Products are the same as in all eCig branches, centreing around electronic "cigarettes", vapes, e-liquids (nicotine), HHC edibles, nicotine pouches, and vape accessories.  Decor is much the same, too

IT Star

This Dublin based IT / electronics gadgets / accessories sales and repair shop for refurbished and new devices opened their first Galway city branch in July 20023 - joining the other stores which have opened since their original store in 2018.

They'e in the Galway Shopping Centre on the Headford Road, in the unit that was previously occupied by Three - next door to Carraig Donne.

Products include phones, headphones, speakers, covers, accessories, and more.   Services include reliable device repairs, unlocking, water-damage repairs

Newspoint and Over the Moon

Update:  June 2023

Àlainn took over the ice-cream counter for a while, but they've gone again. It looks like Newspoint are now managing it themselves, selling Kelly's Icecream.

Over the Moon have decided to concentrate on their original store in the Eyre Square Centre, and the counter here is closed.  Newsprint us still going strong, though.

This combination newsagent and ice-cream shop opened in the Galway Shopping Centre on the Headford Rd in May 2021.

They are in the shop-unit which was previously occupied by Happy Days, who unhappily had to close a fair few months ago.

The good news is that both Newspoint and Over the Moon are established local businesses with a history of operating successfully in shopping centre locations:   during the Covid-19, closedowns, they've opened when possible, providing great levels of customer service and safety.

Over the Moon have a front-window location - you don't even have to go into the shop to sample their great-value home-made gelatos and icecreams.   Newspoint have the expected range of papers, magazines, lottery products - and an interesting range of books and stationery, too.

 

Paco

Paco Women's Clothing store is a Cork-based fashion retailer, named after found Paco Alexander Graves.  Originally offering colourful designer sweaters, they now offer a wide range of women's fashion garments - still with a fabulous range of colours as well as current styles.

In early October 2020, they moved from a quiet side street location in Bothár Irwin to a centrally located shop in the Eyre Square Shopping Centre in the unit where Swamp used to be.

During the late 2020 lockdown, on-line shopping is available on their website.

Galway Locksmith and Shoe Repairs is in the Galway Shopping Centre on the Headford Rd - beside the front entrance. Services include key-cutting
