Le Petit Delice

This locally operated French bakery/patisserie has a cafe in Mainguard St which stayed open throughout the Covid-19 restrictions for takeaway coffee, baking and treats - and is now back to regular operations.

They have an excellent range of cakes and sweet-treats, and a sandwich bar.

McCambridges

McCambridges is one of Galway's is oldest grocery shops - and in recent years has branched out to include a coffee-bar, fine-food delicatessen, hamper selections, and a cafe / restaurant.

When the Covid-19 crisis hit in 2020, as a grocery shop they stayed open and did home deliveries.  They were one of the first city-centre shops to effectively limit the number of people in the store, mark queues outside (one for coffee, one for regular shopping), start a one-way-system through the shop and put safety screens in place to protect their staff.   They were also the first to work out out to re-open their coffee bar - and the staff who make the coffees and managed the queues were remarkably cheerful and helpful throughout.

In 2022, the McCambridge family reached retirement, and sold the business to the Musgrave Group, Ireland's largest food distributor.   So far, there have been very few changes, although the upstairs seating area has now been re-opened for foods and drinks purchased downstairs (no table service is available).

Ciarlantini bar Italia cafe

Ciarlantini cafe in Woodquay re-opened in early May. 

They are now open Monday to usually until 6pm or even later. 

Serving takeaway coffee, and the usual range of delightful  Italian sweet-treats.
