Mountain Warehouse, William Street

In one of the most-talked-about moves this year, British outdoors retailer Mountain Warehouse opened their new William Street store on Saturday 2 May 2026, roughly a week after closing their old Mainguard Street shop.

They've gone to the former Treasure Chest building, which has had extensive safety refurbishment inside, while retaining features like the elegant staircase, and the ornate decorations on the outside of the building.

As in their previous store the product range is based around outdoor clothing and equipment.  But here, as well as entry-level hiking, sportwear and accessories, walking boots, ski wear  and camping equipment, they've got a far wider range of casual men's and women's fashions located downstairs, with most of the specialist equipment upstairs.

Opening days and hours

Seven days a week - exact hours TBA.

This long-awaited Galway city-centre boutique gym finally opened on 9 March 2026.

They're located on the ground floor of the Calatrava Building in the Bonham Quay complex, opposite the hopefully-temporarily closed Costcutter store around the corner from the new Little Lane cafe, and just across the road from the Harbour Hotel.

Billed as a place where fun, friendship, and results come together, H91 Fitness is aiming to be a place where community meets cutting-edge training.   They want to take the guesswork out of getting into incredible shape, in a high-energy space that makes members feels more like they're in a second home.

Classes include Strength,  HYROX, and yoga and Sweat, a signature full-body conditioning class including circuits, HIIT, and functional moves to burn fat and build muscle.
Services include a Wellness Bar offering detox shakes and post-workout blends as well a coffee, and a Members Lounge alongside the premium shower and changing suites.   Personal training is avaiable.

Initially full membership is €23 per week - and they have one-day, two-day and weekly passes as well, making it a great gym for visitors and workers here on short-term assignments.

Opening hours and days
