Cafes / bakeries which were open in Galway city

From midnight on Wednesday 22 October until 1 December, and again from 3pm on 24 December , cafes in Ireland are only allowed to serve on a delivery or collection / takeaway basis.  The following cafes had re-opened between April and October, but have now closed again.

Caprice in Churchyard Lane 

Reopening at 11am on Monday 29 June 

From 7 October, the cafe was closed.  

Now are offering a collection or delivery service from Thursday to Saturday:

Coco in Shop Street

Reopened in late July 20202

From 7 October, closed.

From March 2021, Coco signage was removed from the building.






Cup├ín Tae in Quay Lane / Flood Street 

Reopening on Wednesday 1 July for eat in food and beverages
Bookings encouraged -online or by phoning  091-89-000

From 7 October, closed.

Have announced that they will not re-open the cafe in 2020, but hope to in 2021.





Esquires in Eyre Square

Reopening on Monday 29 June at 7:30am

Closed from 24 December.









Frends in Town Park retail centre

Reopening at 7:30am on Monday 29 June. 
Closing from Wednesday 7 October.

Planning to re-open from 4 December.








Franklins in the Galway Shopping Centre

From 7 October, closed 






GBC Coffee Shop

Re-opening on Monday 29th June 2020. 
Hours 8am-6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am-6pm on Sunday. 

The dining room will be used as extra seating for the coffee shop.

Closed from 7 October

Reopened on Friday 4 December, and closed again on 24 December.








Gerona in Lower Abbeygate Street 

Re-opened for takeout meals and beverages on Monday 15 June, 

Offering limited eat-in as well as takeaway from Monday 29 June.
New hours Monday to Friday 8.30 - 4 pm.

From 7 October, takeaway only. 

Closed from early November.  Re-opened takeaway only from 27 November, and for eat-in from 4 December.  Closed again from 24 December.






Greene and Co (vegan) in Henry Street 

Closed from 6 July.   Re-opening on Friday 9 October, open Friday - Sunday from noon - 5:30pm for takeaway with a reduced menu and with very limited seating outside. Also offering deliveries through an on-line ordering service.








Ground & Co in Joyces complex, Knocknacarra, 

Open for takeaway coffee / treats,  Thus to Sat, 9am to – 2:30pm




Kettle Cafe 

This cafe took over the preemies of the now-closed Sitting Duck in Eyre Street in early March,  just before things closed down.   Since then they've had the painters in and rearrange the cafe.  They reopening from 18 May for both pre-ordering on their website and for walk-up customers.   
Hours now 8am-4pm.

From 7 October, open for takeaway only.





Lighthouse Cafe (vegetarian / vegan) in Terryland.

Opened for takeaways on Wed 2 July. initial hours, Wed - Sat, 10am to 4pm.

Over time, increased hours and allowed dine-in.

From 7 October, takeaway, with very limited outdoor seating.

Pascal Coffee House in Edward Square

Re-opened on 4 December, closed from 24 December.





Subway in the Eyre Square Shopping Centre 

Reopened on 29 June 2020 for eat-in and takeaway.  Hours 11am to 6pm daily.

From 7 October, temporarily closed.
